Description: Here we have an 19th Century chromolithograph that was published as a supplement to the Illustrated London News August 30, 1862. It depicts "The Opening of the International Exhibition". The International of 1862, or Great London Exposition, was a world's fair. It was held from May 1 to November 1, 1862, beside the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society, South Kensington, London, England, on a site that now houses museums including the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. The overall piece with frame measures 25 inches by 19 inches. The mat cut out is 16 1/2 inches by 12 1/2 inches. The print is in nice vintage condition showing no staining or foxing. See the photos of the print without mat and frame to note the edge tears not visible in the framed piece. We are selling a matching piece of the same era depicting the "The Peers' Lobby to the House of Lords", 1863 Shipping weight, well packed, is 8 1/2 lbs.
