UPJOHN This is a SPECTACULAR find. It is "The National Dispensatory. Containing the Natural History, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Actions and Uses of Medicines" by Alfred Stille and John M. Maisch. Published by Henry C. Lea's Son & Co., Philadelphia, 1884. Third Edition. This book was the property of J.T. Upjohn, fromt he family of the founder of Upjohn Pharmaceuticals. Book was signed by Upjohn in 1885. Also signed by an Upjohn researcher in 1904. This large heavy book is bound in full leather and is in surpisingly wonderful condition--clean, very tight, only light wear and a partial front cover hinge crack. I will call it Very Good++. These large, old reference books are typically found in poor condition--this one had been protected for years with a thick, canvas covering that I have removed. Book measures 7 3/4 X 10 5/8, 1755 pages. These early copies of National Dispensatory sell for upwards of $300.00 and generally are in Fair condition, at best. This particular copy has considerable historical significance given the Upjohn signature and I will offer this copy for only $425.00 plus $6.00 S&H in the US.
