Description: Luther's Bible (German: Lutherbibel) is a translation of the Bible into German made by Martin Luther and his closest associates (among them was, for example, the German reformer Philipp Melanchthon). The translation by Luther and his associates played a key role in the Reformation in Germany. It also became the basis for the German literary language. In accordance with Luther's theological views, the translation presents a new approach to understanding the biblical canon. Thus, the deuterocanonical books are placed between the Old and New Testaments under the general heading "Apocrypha: These books are not considered equal to the Scriptures, but are useful and good to read." As for the translation of the "Apocrypha", it was mainly done by Philipp Melanchthon and Justus Jonas. In the translation of the New Testament, the four books whose canonicity and inspiration Luther doubted (the Epistle to the Hebrews, the Epistle of James, the Epistle of Jude, and the Apocalypse) are placed at the end.
