Judith Hearne is not too likable-I never allowed myself to be too drawn to her, not even at her most vulnerable. She can be prickly, overly critical, and self-justifying. But her background makes her present understandable, and the O’Neill’s kindness to her after her economic and societal fall is touching; the story needed to play itself out and their warmth was a good finish.
