Gift inscription to verso of front free endpaper in both volumes: 'Alice Sudell, the gift of her affectionate mother, July 16th 1818'. Engraved portrait frontis to volume I with light foxing, and offsetting to title page. A few lightly pencilled margin notes, text is otherwise very clean throughout. Lacking the half titles and ads. First printing of the diaries of prolific children's author Sarah Trimmer.
