Description: This print by Carl Von Piloty depicts a historic moment during the French Revolution, specifically the execution of the Girondists by guillotine. It was produced through the etching technique on paper, and is a licensed reprint. The artwork features the artist's signature and is titled "The Last of The Girondists". The print is in great shape and would make a fantastic addition to any art collection. This etching is signed by Picoty and copyrighted (1883) by George Barrie, a well known printer from Philadelphia Pa. This print was one of a box of prints/paintings retrieved from an attic of an estate clean-out. The owner was an art dealer year ago. The outer edge is stained and rough from years of storage. The print itself is very nice and should frame nicely. This is NOT a modern reproduction, or copy. Or a picture ripped out of a book. This is an original licensed print from George Barrie dating back to the 1880's.We have tried our best to show the paper, and etching press marks. The print is not numbered, which was common on the 1800's and only validates its age.In the coming weeks, we will be listing other Barrie prints from the 1800's. If you have any questions, please just ask.
