Description: String-Bound, Hand-Made “Hardware Scrapbook, Full of Household Hints for the Whole Family” compiled by J.J. Stangel Hardware Co., Manitowoc, WI, 1930 Inside cover reads, “ The cost of goods isn’t what you pay - but how much value you get for the money”. The scrapbook is filled with tidbits and suggestions, with pamphlets and how-to brochures to compliment. The entire thing was compiled and put together by hand, and is a work of art, to say the least. J.J. Stangel was an outstanding lad, who had an unfortunate end to his story. Survived by his sons Harvey and Arthur, his legacy continued for many years after his death in 1922. The booklet is in good condition - there is some staining on the front cover, and a bit on the back cover. Pages are intact - but some pages are missing brochures/pamphlets. This is a one-of-a-kind piece, an interesting part of history, especially given his impact on the region and within banking (he served as Vice President to First National Bank in addition to being a store owner). Measures 9 x 12”, unpaginated, soft-cover
