Description: This antique hardcover set of two volumes is bound in 3/4 brown leather, with blue-green boards. Spines have black leather labels with gilt lettering, and gilt decoration. Overall good condition for a set of this age, with typical wear: boards have soil, foxing and soil throughout, but bindings generally tight. Additionally. Vol. 1 has a spine label, and both volumes have library bookplates on front inner boards, and inscriptions. Vol. 1 has one panel detached of a fold-out illustration, and small damage on lower edge. Leather is worn and chipped. These two volumes of the "Emporium," edited by Thomas Cooper, represent the preeminent scientific knowledge of the early 19th century. Each volume includes a section of fold-out plates at the rear.
