Description: This listing is for a softcover literature book from EMC (Birch Level) for 9th grade. It is titled The EMC Write-In Reader - Reading Strategies and Test Practice. This 512-page softcover book is set up quite differently than a traditional literature textbook. The reading selection covers most of each page, but there are margins on the outer edges with instructions to "Think and Reflect", "Ask a Question", "Mark the Text", etc. Following each selection are some questions and other things drawn to the student's attention (literary analysis, vocabulary, etc.) The student may write in the book -- if you let him/her! (There is a "Student Model" that will give ideas of effective ways to use this text and several other "helps".) Many familiar authors and some not-so-familiar. Great-looking book! I think somewhere along the way it must have sustained some light water damage; the lower right corner of the pages are slightly "wavy" but there are no stains, odor, sticking pages, or anything like that. (The inside cover does have a faint stain on its edge.)
