Description: THE DOUBLE CROSS by A. E. THOMAS Grosset & Dunlap ©1924 NO JACKET; somewhat browned with age; a bit rubbed and bumped. Binding beginning to crack, in front, but still sound (see photo #2). I rate it GOOD, for its age. Since the publisher is widely known to be primarily a reprint publisher, this is clearly going to be a later date of publication, but I cannot tell you anything about it! A novel of love and mystery in a metropolitan setting, and “a romance suddenly shattered and regained only after bitter experience.” Comment from THE BOOKMAN (1924): A pale mystery whose noble hero and black hearted villain belong to an older, simpler day. Listed among “mysteries that must be read before the reader goes to bed.” (from a 1926 Australian journal) Hard to find any reviews of this book anywhere so I picked out the little quotes given above — from various on line sources!
