Description: This is a partial but matching set of 21 paperback Bible Commentaries published by Inter-varsity Press called "THE BIBLE SPEAKS TODAY."The Old Testament Series Editor is J. A. Motyer I bought these new, one by one years ago, and they've just been sitting on the shelf. They are in excellent condition, most of them being unread. There are no markings, writing, highlighting, ID labels, anything inside the books; they are just like new. Only 3-4 have been looked at to read a chapter or two. The Message of Hosea book is the only one with some minor flaws with a few pages being slightly wrinkled and some staining on the outer edge (see photo). The Hosea cover is still perfect. Overall, I think you'll be pleased with the overall condition of these. 21 books are included in this set (see back cover photos for summaries and author bios): The Message of 1-11, by David Atkinson, 190 pagesThe Message of Genesis 12-50, by Joyce G. Motyer and the late John R. W. Stott, the Bible Speaks Today commentaries are characterized by what Stott called a "threefold ideal . . . to expound the biblical text with accuracy, to relate it to contemporary life and to be readable." As such, each contributor in this series is both a noted scholar and a working pastor. The BST series covers all sixty-six books of the bible (Old and New Testaments) in fifty-five volumes. If you preach or teach from Scripture, the Bible Speaks Today series will help you apply the timeless biblical message to the everyday experiences of your listeners. And if you study the Bible on your own, these volumes will be a helpful resource focusing on the significance of God's Word for your own life and work.Originally published in 1968, the first title in the series was Stott's The Message of Galatians. It went on to become an incredibly beloved commentary, providing "excellent models for expository preachers, combining clarity of communication with careful exegesis, theological literacy and wise application. But they have also been eminently devotional," said Derek Tidball, series editor of the companion Bible Speaks Today Themes series. In the years since this series was first launched, more than one million copies have been sold of the Old and New Testament volumes."The Bible Speaks Today series delivers on its promise: it allows us to truly hear the Scriptures in their original contexts, and empowers us to clearly communicate them in our own."—Mark Buchanan, author and pastor Thanks for looking.
