Description: UP FOR SALE or AUCTION: Shawn Phillips(1943- ) a Texas born singer-songwriter who still records sporadically today has been around since the early 1960's when he toured with the folk circuit. He played folk clubs and began recording for Columbia in 1964 releasing 2 albums with little success. Phillips kept on playing and made some music with another folk legend Donovan during his hit years and played as a session man on several others records and also toured the world and eventually ended up on the label A & M for the first half of the 1970's where he had a few minor hits which grazed the charts. He has recorded mainly in the folk or folk-pop style but later explored jazz and new-age music. Phillips maintains that he does not want to be categorinzed, just wants his listeners to enjoy the music.In the early 1990's, Phillips dropped out of the music scene and became an EMT of which he is still active with that career now in his early 80's. His most recent recording was released in 2023. This CD is a collection of his songs on the A & M label where he had the greatest commercial success. 16 songs in all.
