(Reverse...not shown...contains related/unrelated text) The Battle of Rossbach took place on 5 November 1757 during the Third Silesian War near the village of Rossbach, in the Electorate of Saxony. It is sometimes called the Battle of, or at, Reichardtswerben, after a different nearby town. In this battle Frederick the Great of Prussia defeated an allied army mainly composed of French forces supported by a Holy Roman/Austrian Empire contingent. It is considered one of his greatest strategic masterpieces due to his use of rapid movement to achieve complete surprise, crippling an enemy army while suffering negligible casualties.
