In the book, a highly regarded art film director named "Boris Adrian" attempts to create such a film. The book was dedicated to Stanley Kubrick, the highly regarded art film director who considered adapting the movie for film but the project never materialized. After the book was published, Terry Southern began to write a movie screenplay to entice a producer or director to take the challenge of producing Blue Movie. Up for sale is a complete first edition of the movie screenplay of Blue Movie written by Terry Southern, 254 pages, bound in plain orange wraps with 3 brass brads, in excellent condition. It looks like no one ever opened it. It comes from the estate of producer Chris Whittaker, likely a spec script sent to him that he, along with everyone else, passed on. This is still the film that will likely never be made. Terry Southern passed away in 1995. His archive was donated to the New York Public Library. I went through the contents and found that the library does not have a copy of this version of the first draft screenplay. This copy is 254 pages long and the longest copy in the archives is 135 pages. According to the archives, Southern made no attempt to write any edition after the first.
