Description: Tamiya Hornet Vintage RC With Box, Radio, Manual, Spare Wheels/Tires Tested I built this kit way back in 1986 when I was but a wee lad. I pulled it out of the attic today and got it running for the first time in ten years using the original hump backed Tamiya NiCad battery. However, the battery doesn’t really charge properly anymore, so full speed would require a new battery. Of course, “full speed” for a vintage Hornet is butt-slow compared to any modern RC, so probably best for this one to sit pretty in your vintage RC collection. It’s very complete, but look closely at the pictures to gauge condition. It shows signs of being well loved by a speed-crazed middle schooler. The body has some damage around the wing. The tires on the car in the pics are flat spotted. I put better old tires/wheels on for the test, and they are included. Also included are the dead-ish NiCad battery, old school MRC quick charger, Hi-Tech Challenger 2000 radio (some battery terminal corrosion but it powers up and works), a bag of spare bits, the original 540S motor (currently has a newer 540S motor installed).
