Description: Beautifully figured, true cuban mahogany guitar set, hurricane salvage(rita) from south florida, sweitenia mahogani. Backs are irregularly shaped, about 8.1 wide at lower bout, 22 long , sanded to about 0.160 thick. . Sides are 31.2 long, 4.8 to 4 wide, sanded to about 0.130. some saw marks still present. I consider these seconds due to the slabby nature of the backs in lower bout, the spalty sapwood on sides and also the very dark lines on some areas of the sides that I consider to be signs of a lightning strike/injury to tree, I would advise soaking these lines in ca glue before bending carefully. While I don't see any movement when I flex these, it might be safer as double side construction. Also a couple spots to fill in sapwood on sides. Price reduced due to the above Very beautiful exotic figure. Backs and sides are cut from the same log. Hurricane rita knocked this down and it was sawn into a 3" cant in 2008. recently resawn, color is still extra pink/ will develop further in time towards burgandy/cordovan.
