Contents and Description Contents: Contents: Swallows and Amazons is the first book in the Swallows and Amazons series by English author Arthur Ransome; it was first published on 1 December 1930, with the action taking place in the summer of 1929 in the Lake District. The book introduces the main protagonists John, Susan, Titty and Roger Walker (Swallows), their mother Mary, their baby sister (Bridget - nicknamed Vicky), as well as Nancy and Peggy Blackett (Amazons), their uncle Jim (James Turner), commonly referred to as Captain Flint and their widowed mother Molly Blackett. Condition: Good / Very good condition – Dust jacket in overall good condition. Slight chipping / minor loss to top of spine and top edge near spine. Very slight loss to bottom of spine of dust jacket. Spine slightly discoloured and a few fingermarks / foxing spots to rear cover. Dust jacket has done its job well – green cloth covers are clean and bright. All pages present. Binding is excellent, no loose pages. Book is clean, unmarked – no inscriptions, no scribbles. No tears. Pages crisp. Faint foxing to preliminary / final pages but otherwise clean. Overall: good / very good copy of this collectible book with many lovely illustrations.
