Using the same proprietary base material, Super Seals go through additional metallurgical treatments to increase bending strength, heat resistance, wear characteristics and overall toughness. These enhancements are accomplished without making the seal brittle. The Super Seal has a unique hardened outer surface that resists bending and wear, while the core retains enough flexibility to resist shattering, even under extreme detonation. Hardened core seals, like the OEM part, will shatter when pushed past its limit. A broken seal is usually expelled from the rotor, causing catastrophic damage to the rotors, housings and, sometimes the turbo charger. Seals that have been made from softer materials, such as C40 gray iron, wear rapidly and cannot withstand high performance boost pressures experienced in most custom engine builds. The Super Seal, is a well balanced and proven design, that when installed in a properly tuned engine, will easily match or exceed the performance of any steel seal on the market.
