The picture became the debut for the highly famous Soviet Ukrainian actor Leonid Bykov (1928-1979). The prototype of Marina was Marina Stepanovna Suvorova, a leader of the Zemetchinsky beet farm. She, like Marina, was engaged in the cultivation of sugar beets, and in 1948 she received the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. AWARDS:1954 - Nominated for the Grand Prix of the 7th Cannes International Film Festival (Cannes, France). Please Note: The poster was issued in a highly limited edition - only 14.000 exemplars and is really very collectable and hard to find piece of Soviet cinematography. The artwork is in a good shape, it has moderate fold and border wear with some paper loss and separation at he upper right two crossfolds The action takes place in the Ukrainian village of Lebedinki. Rural worker Marina Vlasenko is looking forward to the return of her husband, Terenty Vlasenko, who five years ago left the direction of the collective farm to study as an agronomist at the Kiev Agricultural Institute. But after his return home, Marina's happiness does not last long. On the very first evening, Terenty asks her for a divorce, saying that she is no longer a couple for him, that he has outgrown her spiritually and intellectually, that he cannot bury his talent in the ground and wants to leave for the city in order to do science and write a dissertation . Marina remains alone, brings up her daughter and devotes herself to study and work. For a whole year, she conducts laboratory experiments to increase the sugar content of beets. The collective farm management appoints her as a new link in the collective farm brigade and allows her to transfer her experiments from the laboratory to the field. Marina's link succeeds and collects a rich beet crop (905 centners per hectare) with a high sugar content. As a result, for great achievements in the field of agriculture, Marina Panasovna is awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. ☆Ekaterina Litvinenko  ☆Nikolai Gritsenko  ☆Tatyana Konyukhova  ☆Aleksandr Serdyuk ☆Mikhail Kuznetsov   ☆Leonid Bykov www.imdb.com/title/tt0046381/ KOVALENKO IVAN LEONTYEVICH (1919 - 2002) - Soviet Ukrainian Artist, graphic artist, poster artist, Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. The favorite pictorial theme of Ivan Leontyevich throughout his entire work was the theme of man's coming - before life, before death, before eternity. His paintings make one think about the future life, and about the life of the past, about a brief moment in the present. The artist is distinguished by his mastery of the drawing technique. The color always emphasizes the mood and idea of the piece. Bold compositions, vivid images, a constant search for new solutions, an appeal to the archetypes of consciousness (the image of the Motherland: a church, a girl in a field, a rowan branch) distinguish Kovalenko from his contemporaries, realist artists. The artist paints abandoned, deserted places, destroyed churches, forcing the viewer to think about the difficult fate of Russia. The feeling of pain from the loss of loved ones, friends, compatriots was reflected in his works, full of quiet sadness and sadness. But, despite all this, the sadness of his work is light. Writing in the last years of his life with a heart filled with kindness and love, the artist gave all of us a piece of himself. A quiet lyrical note, which begins to sound in the most remote corners of the viewer's soul, continues to delight him even after the review of the exhibition is over. The artist was sent down a unique talent to give people joy. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
