Description: Stunning gourd-shaped hand painted vase made by the Jean Pouyat factory of Limoges, France, one of the top Limoges manufacturers of the time. The green underglaze mark on the bottom dates this piece to the period 1890-1932, and indicates that the porcelain itself was made by Pouyat, although the decoration could have been done by Pouyat or by another company. There is an incised number "570" also on the bottom along with the artist’s initials "YK" written on the edge. This piece stands about 9" tall and 3" in diameter across the base; about 5" at the widest point. It features a gorgeous painting of lush roses in a unique color...sort of yellow to apricot...on a background of green and blue sky. The two curvy handles and the top rim are gilded. This piece is in excellent condition with no damage to the porcelain and no noticeable wear to the painting. It came from a collection of fine antique ceramics at an estate on the Gold Coast of Long Island. What a gorgeous vase to add to your Pouyat or Limoges collection!
