Description: STRIKE UP THE BAND, Playbill, 06/27/84, Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia, PA. The musical opened in NYC on 01/14/30 and ran for 191 performances. This production was part of the American Music Theatre Festival and ran form 06/27/84 - 07/29/84. The cast includes Katharine Buffaloe, David Carroll, Kim Criswell, Kevin Daly, Bill Irwin, Marge Redmond, David Sabin, Robert Schlee, Robert Trebor and Eric Weitz. Music by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin and book by Morrie Ryskind (based on a libretto by George S. Kaufman). Conceived by Frank Corsaro and Ronald Chase and reconstructed and adapted by Eric Salzman. Directed by Frank Corsaro and choreographed by Randolyn Zinn. The Playbill also contains the programs for other productions in the American Music Theatre Festival. These include: TRIO - A Jazz Chamber Opera by Noa Ain (based on a concept by Noa Ain and Dana Zeller-Alexis; X - The Life and Times of Malcolm X by (music by Anthony Davis, lyrics by Thulani Davis and book byChristopher Davis); THE EMPEROR JONES - A new music theater dance work built around the play by Eugene O'Neill (music by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson; MRS. FARMER'S DAUGHTER (music, lyrics and text by Jack Eric Williams) based on the life of Frances Farmer. The program is complete. The scan is of the front cover. This is NOT a reproduction!!
