Description: The Story of the Wild West and Campfire Chats by Buffalo Bill. Rare antique 1888 first edition. 766 pages. Complete. Good binding. Pages in nice condition. Very well maintained copy. Book is approx. 9” x 6.5” What makes this rare is it does not have the publisher listed, usually the Historical Publishing Company of Philadelphia in later 1888 printings. Some later editions also list the name of H.S. Smith next to the publishing date. This also has “Sincerely Yours W.F. Cody Buffalo Bill” signed on the last page of the preface, most likely from a printing block, but not all copies have this. Also contains the full color image next to the title page, which was often removed by the owners. Normal age wear to cover, some light stains to a few pages. Writing in pencil on front blank matter page by previous owner. Some fading to cover. Displays well. Really a great copy and important work featuring stories and accounts of famous Western figures, such as Kit Carson, Buffalo Bill, Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, and many more with over 250 illustrations. Will be packed well for safe delivery. Shipped USPS Ground Advantage with insurance.
