Description: Rare Whiting Lilly of the Valley sterling silver Vesta in excellent condition with crisp hand chased flowers and scrolls. The fancy script monogram reads "FJF". There are no dents, splits, or scratches except minor surface wear. There have been no repairs or alterations. The lid mechanism works perfectly and closes snugly. It measures 2 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide and weighs exactly 20 grams on my postal scale. The matchsafe has the proper hallmarks with a sterling stamp, the Whiting makers mark, and the number 2335 Whiting Manufacturing company was a major NY manufacturer from 1866-1926 and made a full line of quality silver items before Gorham took them over in 1926.
