Description: Stanley Van Winkle Hiller [1888 1968] was a aviation pioneer, early aircraft builder and Early Bird [later President of Early Birds] who made his first flight in a glider in 1909 and built and flew his own plane in 1911. Begining in 1911, he built a series of six cylinder radial engines which became more and more powerful and made a series of record distance flights. Hiller spent his life in aviation and served as President of The Early Birds from January 1968 until his death later the same year. Listed for auction is the autograph of Stanley Van Winkle Hiller signed on a aviation related commemorative postal cover. The autograph is signed ''E.B June 15- 1911 Stanley Hiller'' in black fountain pen. The cover is postmarked Dec 5, 1946, and is affixed with [1] one U.S postage stamp. The cover measures 6.50 x 3.50, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic and is a desirable example of this prominent aviation pioneer.
