Author Biography Lisa Horstman grew up on a small farm in Ohio with three sisters, one brother, cows, chickens, and assorted pets. She has written and illustrated numerous picture books for children, including The Great Smoky Mountain Salamander Ball, The Troublesome Cub, and Fast Friends, which won the Dr. Seuss Picture Book Award in 1994. Most recently, she illustrated Erin Mirabellas Gracie Goats Big Bike Race and Steve Kemps Were Going to the Mountains. The illustrations for Squawking Matilda received a 3x3 Illustration Annual Childrens Book Show Merit Award in the unpublished category and were featured in an issue of the magazine.
