Description: This is a 1990-vintage Sony STR-AV19 Audio Video Control Center that is completely tested and is fully functional. It is also very clean. It had an $210 MSRP in 1990. Despite the name, this is not an AVR. It is a two-channel stereo receiver rated at 40 WPC from 20Hz to 20kHz into 8 ohms with 0.8% THD. If you listen to stereo music, this is a very nice affordable upgrade from a used AVR. It has plenty of power to drive most speakers to a reasonable volume level. There are four analog RCA inputs, (including a phono input), plus the built-in AM/FM tuner. This means that you can easily connect a turntable, CD player, a streamer, and a cassette deck. It also has a ¼” headphone out jack. The FM tuner is a good quality unit, that has a Direct Access Tuning function that lets you just punch in the frequency of a station to go directly to it. It also has programmable tuning presets. Dimensions: 17” W, 4.3” H, 11.6” D, 14lbs. Note: No remote is included. There are no digital audio inputs and no HDMI inputs. There is no Wi-Fi or Blu-tooth connectivity. I am passionate about vintage stereo equipment. I take the time to test every single function of the receiver by connecting speakers, headphones, a turntable (with a phono output), a tape deck, a CD player, and an FM antenna. I check every single switch, knob and button to confirm that they work as intended. Doing this lets me listen to how the receiver functions and actually sounds. After the initial assessment, I thoroughly clean the outside and inside of the receiver and clean every potentiometer and switch with CRC QD Electronic cleaner. This particular STR-AV19 is in excellent shape cosmetically, as you can see from the photos. All of the displays and controls work as designed. It is hard to believe that it is roughly 34 years old! This unit is serial 809889. This will be wrapped with plastic cling wrap and multiple layers of bubble wrap, before being placed into a sturdy box with appropriate packing material.
