Description: Tillandsia lorentziana is an epiphyte or caulescent saxicolous native to Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina at altitudes of 2200 to 8200 feet above sea level. First described by August Heinrich Rudolf Grisebach in 1874, this plant can become quite large (up to 20 inches during flowering) and produce numerous, flexible, triangular leaves. The leaves, arranged in a helix, are a green tint (white) and sometimes green tone (gray). SMALL size is 2-5" high/wide *You will receive a plant similar to the one(s) pictured. Listing is for only 1 plant. Product is customizable with a wire hanger or grapewood piece for an additional fee if requested. --------------------------------------------- Foliage:Polystic leaves arranged in a helix in a green tone or tint. There are numerous, flexible, triangular leaves in open gutter with those at the base being sharply curved. Blooms: An inflorescence up to 6" displays flowering bracts that are scaly with pink tones and floral bracts are a pink to red with almost no scales. Flowers are tubular, white (with some having a blue tip). Fruit: No Zoned: 10-11 Environment: Medium to high humidity. It will usually tolerate indoor levels with slight difficulty and prefers a more humid environment. Grows best in 55-85 degrees F and will tolerate as low as 40 degrees for a very short period of time. Needs good air circulation. Light: Bright indirect to filtered, direct light. Try to avoid North-facing windows due to lack of sufficient lighting and afternoon, summer sun. Water: Mist thoroughly every 2-4 days depending on humidity and heat. Decrease watering if the humidity levels are higher. Alternatively, you may soak this plant for up to 5 hours every other week. Gently shake the plant to dislodge water then place upside-down on absorbent material until the leaves are thoroughly dry. Soggy leaves or overly damp crown/base may encourage leaf drop and disease. Decrease water in winter. Fertilizer: Use a balanced fertilizer 2-3 times every month during the growing period. It is advisable to use a epiphyte fertilizer mix or a general-purpose fertilizer diluted to 1/4 of the directions. Notes:This plant is not considered toxic, but should not be consumed.
