Description: Handmade man's 100% wool smoking cap or lounging cap. The round cap is 24" in circumference and 4" tall. The fabric is black cotton velveteen. It is lined with multicolored plaid taffeta and is decorated with a gold colored "silk-look" rayon 3 1/2" tassel with black and gold thread wrapping at the top. It is held in place with a interesting gold colored 1" button with a raised swirly design edged with a narrow rope shaped edging. The button is plastic with the look of antique metal. This is a new, unused cap.During Victorian and Edwardian times, after dinner, gentlemen left the ladies and gathered to smoke their cigars and share a drink. In order to spare the ladies the smell of smoke gentlemen would frequently don their "smoking jacket and smoking cap" which could be removed, along with the smoke smell. Civil War re-enactors enjoy wearing the warm caps on a cool evening around the campfire. Steam punk, Edwardian, cigar club members, or any distinguished gentleman, will enjoy the cap.
