Description: Handmade man's 100% silk smoking cap or lounging cap. The round cap is 24" in circumference and 4" tall. The fabric of the sides is a woven design of gold with wheat like stalks with diamonds on top against a rich maroon background.. A line of green geometric designs run around the top edge. The top is plain maroon silk. It is lined with the same 100% silk fabric. It is decorated with an ivory colored "silk-look" rayon 4" tassel held in place with an amazing antique glass button. The button is 3/4" wide, it has a gold incised design on one side of the button reminiscent of a sunrise. The other side of the button has a gold line across the mahogany colored glass. This is a new, unused cap.During Victorian and Edwardian times, after dinner, gentlemen left the ladies and gathered to smoke their cigars and share a drink. In order to spare the ladies the smell of smoke gentlemen would frequently don their "smoking jacket and smoking cap" which could be removed, along with the smoke smell. Civil War re-enactors enjoy wearing the warm caps on a cool evening around the campfire. Steam punk, Edwardian, cigar club members, or any distinguished gentleman, will enjoy the cap.
