Description: This is a 26 track compilation CD of Sleepy La Beef's 1970s work entitled "A Rockin' Decade" on Charly (CPCD 8303) and distributed in Australia through Rajon/AMCOS. These are tracks mostly recorded between 1974 and 1979, originally for the Sun International label. Sleepy La Beef recorded for Shelby Singleton's Sun International in the 1970s. With a couple of exceptions, the tracks on this compilation are from that Sun International period. He started recording in the late 50s, but it wasn't until he started working with Sun International that he met with critical acclaim. He, of course, was best known as a marvellous live performer with an extensive repertoire of rockabilly, rock 'n' roll, r & b and gospel tunes. I was fortunate enough to have seen an incredible live gig of his when he visited Sydney in the late 90s at a pub in Balmain! A visit to his Wiki page is highly recommended for more information on this absolute legend! This CD contains 26 tracks from his various Sun International LP releases. It is a excellent collection and well worth adding to your collection. Includes a 12 page booklet with 4 pages of liner notes by Adam Komorowski and a discography that relates to the tracks on this CD collection.
