Description: Sir Winston Churchill 1965 Crown & Stamp Display Set Sir Winston Churchill died in January 1965 at the age of ninety. A holder of most cabinet posts during his political career but remembered as the Prime Minister of Britain during Word War II when he seemed to put into words the thoughts of the nation. In his honour a new crown was issued which shows his portrait, the first time a commoner had featured on a British coin! Sir Winston Churchill, Prime Minister and war leader of Britain during World War II, died on the 24th January 1965. Before 1940 he was thought by some to be a braggart, turncoat and warmonger but had held more cabinet posts than anyone in British history and often, during the war, put into words what the British people were thinking. The display contains the commemorative crown and the two commemorative British postage stamps. The crown is in uncirculated condition and the stamps are in mint condition as issued. The item is housed in a display protection case. The set can be removed from the case for framing if so desired. This is a fantastic item that would make a great gift for a Churchill enthusiast or a coin/stamp collector and is ideal for display. The year that was 1965... • On 24 January, Winston Churchill dies.
