Description: I have for sale a one-dollar scrip note that was used at the Sing Sing prison in Ossining, New York, circa 1914-1916. The note is 7 1/4 by 3 inches and graded VF30 by the Paper Money Guaranty company. The note has the denomination One, and reads "DO GOOD - MAKE GOOD", and SING SING PRISON. In the center it has the letters MWL in a circle. MWL stand for Mutual Welfare League. MWL was a shop where the inmates could use this currency along with the $5 & $10 notes. (I have never seen a 10) The MWL was started by Warden Thomas Mott Osborn, who was warden from 1914-1916. Please see over 950 more collectibles for sale in my EBAY STORE at TE Collectables.
