I've had this book for decades, and it was well-cared for, stored away virtually undisturbed in all that time. Before offering it for sale, I carefully took the time to eyeball each page to make sure there was nothing obvious hiding in there that might otherwise be missed. Here is the generally-accepted description of a VG/FN comic book (as you can find on multiple online grading websites): 5.0 VERY GOOD/FINE (VG/FN): An above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have moderate to low reflectivity. Blunted corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and minor stress lines may also be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown with no signs of brittleness. Centerfold may be loose. Minor interior tears may also be present. (I include this description so you can refer to it while following along with my observations below.) Surfaceflat, still shiny, very smooth, but not completely soEdge Wearrelatively minorOverall Wearnice in front; a bit more rugged in backFolds/Creasesnone, though lower-right corner has a hintWrinklingminimalCornersbluntedPrinting DefectsnoneArrival Stampssmall "12" written on top of CCA box. Also lightly pencilled "1.00" at top of last inner page (visible in photo)Spineclearly been read a couple of times with some visible wear / color breaks / spine ticks. A bit more ruggesd at the lower corner. See below about upper staple.Spine RollnoneTears/Splitsan obvious one at upper staple that exceeds "minor staple tears" allowed in the description above. And even though the 5.0 description allows for a 1/2 inch split, this one measured almost an inch, thereby knocking this copy below 5.0.Staplesdiscolored with a hint of rust migration -- both look good and go all the way through to the centerfold.Back coverclearly not as white as it must have been all those decades ago and showing some edge wear (all plain enough in the photos)Smudgessome minor ones visible when held up to lightSurface build-upsignificant coating (very plain in photos) -- it's mostly build-up; I don't really see any foxing.Inner coversstill near-white and mostly clean; no sign of Silver Age tanningPage colorcream to off-whitePage conditiongood (but not great) no sign of brittleness; everything seems well attached; a couple of inner pages had corner folds, which I straighted, but you can see one at lower-left in back inner photo. Also, page 8 has a 2 inch tear right between panels (i.e. essentially missing the artwork completely).BOTTOM LINEBook presents initially as 5.0, but you easily see it doesn't make it after a close examination. Also just as easily, you can tell this is better than a straight reader copy, but right in the middle seems appropriate. If you're okay with a used, but still structurally sound copy, this might work for you. Do your research and find the other copies listed out there that claim that they're around this condition, and you'll often find copies that are clearly more worn or wrinkled than this one, or they give you two pictures only and don't even take the time to describe the book, so you're left with no idea of what you're getting, so how on earth would you even know? See what they're asking, and you'll find that this copy is competitively priced. Where do you get more details or camera angles than what I've provided? ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE!
