Description: INGRID BERGMAN und ROBERTO ROSSELLINI by Renate Mohrmann published in 1999 by Rowohlt, Berlin Ingrid Bergman (1915-1982) was one of the best, most beautiful, and most popular actresses in Hollywood in the 1940s. Her most famous role was that of Ilsa in the great movie Casablanca. She also starred in such classic films as Intermezzo, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Gaslight, The Bells of St. Mary's, Spellbound, and Notorious. She created a scandal by leaving her husband for an Italian director, Roberto Rossellini (1906-1977), who was noted for his "neo-realist" films. It was many years before her American audience forgave her, but they eventually did. Bergman and Rossellini collaborated on several films (and three children)before divorcing in 1957. PLEASE NOTE- this is a German language book. This is NOT an English translation. This is a hardback book with dustjacket, 8" by 5 1/4", 216 pages, with about fifteen full page b/w photos. The book is signed and inscribed by the author on the title page.
