Description: Gorgeous late 1800s Boston School impressionist portrait of a woman with pearls. In period wood frame on stretched canvas. Features beautiful young woman with period dress and pearls. Plain background. Signed illegibly. I did at one point have the name but have since lost it. It came back to a woman artist from Boston. She only produced a couple paintings that I could find in past auctions. Possibly E. Carlson(d)??? but sadly forget. Very subtle toning - nice brush work and technique. Marked "Bay State Stretcher made by Wadsworth Howland & Co. Inc. Boston Mass" Frame 21 1/2 x 17 1/2Sighted 17 7/8in x 13 7/8in Found in Massachusetts years ago. Condition notes: Craquelure throughout. Small paint loss in areas. Top center most notable. Some other very small spots of paint loss. Probably needs cleaning and to be re-stretched and varnished. Frame is pulling apart at top left corner. Canvas has been nailed back into frame. Will ship UPS Ground insured. I always sandwich framed pieces between heavy board then pack.
