Shocking! The Art and Fashion of Elsa Schiaparelli by Dilys E. Blum (2003) GEM!

Description: Absolutely MAGNIFICENT and Whimsical BOOK, but there are a few minor Flaws: The dust jacket has a Tear to the upper right hand corner, on the front of one inch. (see pic) There is a pencil price Inscription within the first pages. Some wear to DJ, especially the Edges. The Red Boards are in perfect shape, and Cloth is clean. The book is essentially Immaculate inside, and hardly Read. Elsa Schiaparelli was one of the Most talented Fashion Designers of the 20th Century. Her Color sense and Brilliance is apparent ! On pages 134 and 135 (see pic) she collaborated with the Painter Salvador Dali, inspired by his surrealistic Lobster on the Phone , she repeated the design of a LOBSTER front and center, on one of her Silk Gowns! She designed for Mae West( see pic), and others. She is famous for Bridging between Fashion and ART!! Besides Dali she collaborated with artists, Jean Cocteau, and Albert Giacometti~!!! Since her Designs were Larger than Life, she was drawn to those performers who had the same Quality, such as Marlene Dietrich~!! Many of her Gowns had amazingly complicated embroideries stitched in. One of her wackiest designs is the Hat that looks like a Shoe. (see pic) There are some wonderful Photographs of Schiaparelli throughout the book, and on the cover~!! I ALWAYS ship in a BOX, stuffed Thoroughly with Bubble Wrap. In my opinion, there can never be too much Bubble Wrap~!!
