This listing is for a vintage Selmer (Paris) metal mouthpiece for alto saxophone. This is the 'classic' model (as opposed to the "jazz" model). The classic was indeed intended for playing in the classical style. Nowadays it is difficult to image using a metal mouthpiece for playing classical music, but none other than the pre-eminent classical saxophonist Marcel Mule used one just like this! This is the short shank version with triple fluted sides. It has the older style "diamond" logo". It dates to the 1950's. This one comes in an original "C**" facing. The tip opening measures right on spec at .071". This mouthpiece is in very good used condition. It doesn't appear to have ever been dropped or damaged, and it has not been worked on post-production. There are some minor scratches, but no dings or gouges, to the facing. There are no tooth indentations on the bite plate. The silver plate finish is almost fully intact.
