Donner, Robert Fischer, Borislav lvkov, Bent Larsen, Miguel Najdorf, Tigran Petrosian, Lajos Portisch, Samuel Reshevsky, Boris Spassky, Wolfgang Unzicker. Introduction by Gregor Piatigorsky Edited by Isaac Kashdan The first Piatigorsky Cup tournament was characterized by Lt. Col. Edmund B. Edmondson, Executive Director of the United States Chess Federation: "The tournament itself was of world consequence, the greatest chess event held in this country during the last forty years:' The second Piatigorsky Cup tourna-ment, held at the Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica from July 1 7th to Au-gust 11th, 1966, surpassed the first in caliber of players and in the world-wide interest it aroused. Topping the list of participants were: world cham-pion Tigran Petrosian; his most recent challenger Boris Spassky; and United States champion Bobby Fischer. This is one of the most unusual books in chess literature. Most of the 90 games have been annotated by both players. The book is a record of great games, many of which may become classics, played in one of the world's most important tournaments. It is also an anthology of commentaries by ten of the best players in the contemporary chess world.
