Description: This is: an original screenplay, dated June 9, 1942, titled "China Pass," which Paramount Pictures made into a film re-titled "Night Plane to Chungking" in 1943 starring Robert Preston and Ellen Drew. The screenplay was written by Lester Cole, a prolific film writer who was later blacklisted and jailed for his refusal to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee, which investigated Communists in the film industry. Cole wrote his later works using an alias, and perhaps his most famous was "Born Free" in 1966. This is Cole's original script, and two other writers were credited, along with Cole, when the film came out in 1943. The script is complete, held together by brass inserts, and is 89 pages long. We include another nice item. It is a "Paramount Studio Club Card" issued for the 1943-44 season to a man who worked at the studio at the time. The man listed on the card was the owner of the script. Check the scans for details, and feel free to contact us with questions. Because this is a vintage screenplay we sell it as-is.
