SCARCE VINTAGE ARTS & CRAFTS BASKETWEAVE BORDERED BAKELITE COVER PLATES IVORY by BRYANT HEMCO Since these cover plates are vintage, 'perfect' plates become very rare, so I also sell plates with Appearance Issues/defects. This particular scarce basketweave design seems to have a propensity for hairline cracks above and below the toggle opening. I have attempted to provide images that clearly show the defects. (Click on “Seller’s other items”) I always paint my cover plates, which makes it easy to disguise appearance issues. See further down in this item description for tips on painting your cover plates. As I come across additional vintage cover plates, dwindled supplies might have been replenished. So if you're looking for ones I ran out of or didn't have before, please look again! CONDITION: Please examine photos. No remarkable issues other than very faint hairline cracks only visible from the back. Care should be taken not to screw the plate too tightly. Many times imperfections can be camouflaged with spackle and paint, or in the case of roughness around the edge of the plate - light sanding. If you are painting your cover plates, which I recommend, it should include a primer that adheres to plastic. Imperfections like cracks can be filled in with spackle. Be sure to give the paint time to cure so it adheres well to the surface, then the painted surface should be fairly durable. Use satin or eggshell finish which is favorable to light cleaning for cover plates that get a lot of use.
