ABOUT THIS ISSUE: Last May Post senior editor JAMES ATWATER noticed a brief newspaper item about two British paratroopers who were planning to cross the Atlantic in a row boat. Atwater immediately got in touch with them and not only expressed the Post's interest in their story but supplied them with camera equipment. Learning they were to leave from Cape Cod, Atwater advised them to get some tips on rowing from the old dory fishermen there. For the 92 days of the voyage, Atwater took a three-week vacation, edited two major stories, and went out of town on business; from time to time it would come to him that the two were still out there manfully plowing the sea. As soon as he heard the men were safe, Atwater completed the circle by flying to England and writing their story himself.... Ever since consorting with English witches, JOHN KOBLER has kept at hand a ball of silvered glass, a sure talisman against the Evil Eye in case he unwittingly offended any of them. * NOTE: OUR content description is GUARANTEED accurate for THIS magazine.
