The trees are harvested by hand, brought to the shop and then cut into lumber. (The solid wood timbers and accessory trim pieces on this piece are rough sawn, for a look uniquely reminiscent of the timber-framed homes once found on the American frontier.. and the bed is assembled with mortise and tenon joinery same as our log beds are for a very sturdy and robust piece of furniture. The six drawers are very heavy duty and full extension, ball bearing glides for years of hassle free and quiet use and are the perfect fit for those rooms where you need to conserve space. There is some assembly required to assemble these beds. It comes in several pre-assembled sections ( headboard, foot board, drawer sections and side rails )but they are heavy, so you might want to have help on hand to get it put together then. Mattress is not included. We choose to work with lodgepole pine as it grows naturally in the forests of NW montana and is known for its superior strength to weight ratio. It is also straighter, thus making it easier to work the raw wood into the highest quality furniture possible. Our lodge pole pine is harvested in the Kootenai National Forest via a very selective process. Skilled woodsmen select each tree with an attentive eye toward the quality, straightness and size of each specimen. After felling, each piece is hand carried to the road to ensure both the tree and the environment remain unharmed. Upkeep on our rustic log furniture is simple.
