Description: ITEM: Single decorative dinner plate. DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful 10" diameter, plum and white colored decorative plate depicting a castle on a lake nestled in the mountains. The back of the plate is marked "Royal Staffordshire Pottery England, Jenny Lind 1795 Jenny Lind was was a Swedish opera singer, often called the "Swedish Nightingale". One of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century Jenny Lind was a popular print - it was an early 1900's replicas of original ware that was produced in the mid 1800's by the Meigh family of potters at the Old Hall Works in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. After the closure of the Old Hall Works in 1902, A J Wilkinson (at the Royal Staffordshire Pottery) bought the Jenny Lind printing plates and continued production of this pattern. The '1795' has nothing to do with the date of manufacture - it refers back to the start of the original Meigh family pottery. CONDITION: Pre-owned, excellent condition. See photos for details.
