First discovered in Sardinia, Italy, Rosasite got its name after its type locale: The Rosas Mine. Rosasite is a secondary mineral found in the oxidized areas of copper-zinc deposits. Rosasite from the Ojuela mine typically forms in velvety, botryoidal bubbles or masses that carpet over a host matrix of limonite. Rosasite color can vary in shades of dark blue, teal blue, robin egg blue, or even a greenish-turquoise. Rosasite Specimens from the Ojuela mine can sometimes be found with Hemimorphite, Aurichalcite, Malachite, or Calcite Crystals growing with it.
