Description: Offered here are two free pages of the Robin Hood Cottage, Old Short Hills, New Jersey. Bernard E. Muller - Architect. Circa 1927. The property has recently been sold and remodeled far beyond any of its original English quaintness. These two pages are from an unknown magazine. "A FAIRY TALE HOUSE Robin Hood Cottage," Old Short Hills, Bernhardt E. Muller, Architect (page 63): showing three early pictures of the Robin Hood Cottage in Short Hills, New Jersey. These came in a plastic sleeve, marked: 1927 Oct. Sorry, but I was unable to find a publication by googling any of the three titles. Caption: "In motoring about the countryside nowadays one sees many bizarre houses, but it is doubtful if any are quite so unusual as this cottage, which looks as if it had stepped from the pages of Hans Christian Andersen. Even the garden wall is in character, and the weathervane atop the chimney. Despite its oddity it is thoroughly modern and well-planned." On the reverse sides are two different articles: SAVANNAH DOORWAYS Drawn by Christopher Murphy, Jr. (Christopher Murphy (1902-1973), was from Savannah, GA), photographs by Richard Southall Grant (Landmarks from Bow to Boston, 1948); and the other has a tribute, entitled "An Unfinished Monument", The Late Charles Sprague Sargent (page 64). Charles Sargent (1841-1927), was director of the Arnold Arboretum, Harvard University. From Wikipedia: "Bernhardt E. Muller, was an American architect who worked chiefly in Florida, where he designed many buildings in the 1920s and 1930s that have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. He is known for "the distinctive architecture loosely described as the 'Arabian Nights style,' or more specifically but still rather loosely, the Moorish Revival Style.
