Description: The Ricoh R1s has a 30mm f3.5 MACRO lens as standard and can be switched to a 24mm Wide PANORAMA lens at the flick of a switch. Its very fast and has extremely accurate Auto Focus. This Ricoh R1s has the infamous non-functioning LCD on top and the non-latching battery door. LCD worked perfectly until this past year. It slowly started loosing sections and would occasionally work fully until finally quitting all together. Oddly, the low batter symbol appear in the LCD just before this listing. I have since replaced the battery with a fresh Energizer Lithium CR2 for the new owner. This does not hurt the functions of the camera but will make it a bit difficult to view exposure count or switch modes without looking up the button combos (readily available online). Occasionally, the exposure counter still shows up. I keep it stored in a humidity controlled photography cabinet as I have noticed, during a trip to Jamaica, that the LCD's functionality fluctuates with the humidity. I have secured the door with gaffer's tape as a reliable and residue free solution. I have also applied gaffer's tape to the film cartridge viewing window. This is more for piece of mind than anything else. It looks like the light seals around the window are fine but I do this to all my cameras regardless. Either way, the tape can be removed if you wish as gaffer's tape leaves no residue. Trust me, I take very good care of my gear, these are just the realities of the R1s. They are inevitabilities for all of them. I have used this camera for many years as my point and shoot go to but have stop using it as of late and have decided to sell. It still takes wonderful photos. A photographer friend recently borrowed it and shot some wonderful shots this past month so I know its still a great set up. It will arrive set for basic auto mode when turned on for the buyer. Thanks for shopping.
