Description: PRINTS BOOKS PHOTOGRAPHS MANUSCRIPTS CURIOSITIES - MASTERFULLY DRAWN, AND SHOWING A DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF FORM AND ANATOMY -A collection of sketches of farms and farm animals on 10 sheets by Richard Henry Brock, from a famous family of Cambridge artists, several signed and / or dated, 1900 and similar.A total of 10 sheets of original animal and farmyard drawings. Charcoal and bodycolour on buff papers. Size: various, from 40cm x 28cm to 30cm x 19cm. 5 signed with name 'R. H. Brook' or initials 'R.H.B.' and dated 1900-1904.Good overall condition. Some overall light creasing, to some edges and corners in particular. The largest sheet (of a barn) with some wear, nicks and creasing to the edges. Some old patches of strengthening to versos of many of the sheets, using small segments of archival paper tape. These are not visible from the front of the sheets (unless held up to light) and will not be seen at all once mounted and framed. They appear to have been applied solely to flatten out folds to the sheets, as there are no tears apparent, except a couple of short closed tears on one or two of the sheets). A brief search on-line will reveal much biographical detail on Richard and family, most of whom were artists and illustrators.
