The book is in fine condition (black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with no significant wear. The book is in a near fine unclipped dust jacket which has very light creasing to edges. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions. This authorised biography tells the story of an exceptional and fascinating man who joined the RAF in 1937 and was in the thick of the action right from the start of the war, serving with great distinction and bravery over France and Dunkirk in May and June of 1940. He later helped to defend London and the south east during the Battle of Britain. He went on to command a flight in 602 Squadron, to lecture in America and to command at both Biggin Hill and later in France.
