It's tube powered with a total of 11 visible out back. Plus has built-in speakers, not very common on a such a compact deck. The ReVox G36 is capable of recording and playback on 7-inch reels and also 10.5-inch reels with the proper adapter. This machine with come with two 7-inch reels ready to use. It's capable of 3-3/4 IPS and 7-1/2 IPS (inches per second) tape speeds for versatility. From Revox: The ReVox Series 36 has been constantly improved and kept up to date, since it was first introduced in 1956. However, the present G still bears the same basic layout and conception as did the original A recorder. Compared with the preceding models, the following major innovations have been incorporated in the ReVox G36 recorder: Hysteresis-Synchronous Capstan motor, VU, meters for record level control and a tape-tension switch to permit the use of all reels from 7 inch up to 10 1/2 inch diameter. The recorder consists of an upper and lower chassis. These are joined at the rear by means of the back panel which carries the input and output sockets, mains voltage adjuster and fuse-holder, and at the front by means of the loudspeaker panel mountings. The upper chassis carries the tape transport mechanism and the lower chassis bears the power supply unit and the electronics. All Audio Connections are led to standard phono sockets. To interconnect the Revox recorder with other audio Equipment, a selection of adapter cables is available. SkyFi Cosmetic Notes: Some marks/scratches visible on front and back panel of unit. Approximate Age: 1964 Testing Process: First steps are performed to determine if the unit is a candidate for our full restoration process, or if it's just in need of a light service. We perform a basic functionality test to ensure proper playback, fast forward, and rewind. We look for smooth operation of the motors, transport engagement, and associated rolling parts. We then do an internal physical inspection to ensure the belts and rubber consumable parts are up to spec. Internal components are checked to make sure there are no signs of heat stress or damage, particularly in the power supply section. Capacitors are checked for telltale signs of predictive failure including bulging, shrunken wrappers, or physical leakage. We also inspect the PCBs for discoloration from resistors or transistors that may have been running hot. On vintage units we often spot check select capacitors for value and ESR. A light service will involve replacement of belts and rollers, external cleaning of heads, mechanism and boards, and basic record and playback tests. A full restoration will often include disassembly of the drive system and replacement of all consumable and wearable parts including pinch rollers, belts, brakes, and bearings. We then clean, lubricate, and re-assemble the drive and perform basic mechanical alignment to ensure proper tape path and head alignment. Final calibration will involve adjustment of the playback, erase, and record heads, along with optimization of the bias for a specific tape type. We do this with the aid of a Sound Technology 1510A tape deck analyzer plus a Nakamichi T-100 Audio Analyzer with reference calibration tapes.
