Buell was an officer in the Connecticut Line during the Revolutionary War. He served as a captain in Col. Hinman’s 4th Connecticut Regiment from May 1 through December 1775 and was stationed at Fort Ticonderoga. In January 1776, Buell re-enlisted as lieutenant colonel of Col. Charles Burrall’s Connecticut Regiment. He traveled with the regiment to reinforce the Continental Army during its invasion of Canada, then retreated in May and June as the invasion was beaten back by British forces. Each document has folds, browning along the left margin. The 1778 document has some light chipping prevalent in a half-inch area, affecting very little. Overall, two fine Revolutionary War documents.
